Aeroponic Cloning

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

Aeroponic cloners are the best and easiest way to clone medical marijuana. With results in as few as 4-10 days, this method delivers air and water to clone cuttings that are suspended in a rooting chamber. The cuttings are held in place by neoprene inserts. The most common aero-cloner is the EZ-Cloner. It works great, but comes with a steep price tag, considering for 1/3rd of the price, you can make your own.

DWC Bubble Buckets

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

I have tried various methods of growing, and I have strongly concluded that DWC Bubble Buckets with water circulation are the best way to go. This method of hydroponics is based on deep water cultivation, but also allows for water to circulate by way of a water pump to each bucket. Bubble Buckets are the most forgiving method of hydro. If power failure acures, your plants will have more than 24 hours of survival time, being that the roots sit directly in the water. All other methods of hydroponics utilize pumps on timers or steadily mist the roots. Without power, the roots can dry up in a half hour. I strongly suggest anyone starting out with hydroponics to try this method over all else.

Re-rooting Clones

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

What do you do when the clones you get, are grown in a medium different than your own? Its simple. There are 2 basic mediums clones are most commonly transferred from. Rockwook and Soil. Say you want to get your clones out of a Rockwool cube, and into a soil medium. The best way, in my opinion, is to hold just the rockwool cube holding your clone under water, and slowly massage the rockwool away from the roots . It will slowly deteriorate. It will take some time depending on the quality of your cube. The roots will be exposed so have everything ready to transplant. Before transferring your clone to its final destination, I would suggest putting the cutting into a hydroponic cloner, preferably an aeroponic cloner. You can go directly to soil, but expect shock. It I have noticed aeroponic cloners reduce shock to an absolute minimum. If your clones come in soil, remove the pot as if to transplant. Carefully place the soil in water, and rinse the soil away slowly. Doing it too fast can cause clumps to fall out, which can break sensitive roots.

Flushing DWC Bubble Buckets.

Tuesday, April 20th, 2010

Flushing with DWC Bubble Buckets is very easy, but can be time consuming. If your buckets are not linked together, it is as simple as just dumping the water, and adding newly Ph adjusted water back to its normal levels. Try to keep your PPM’s around 300 during  flush.  It gets tricky when you have a linked system. A linked system is simply a series of buckets that share a common drain. They typically utilize a water pump to circulate the water. If your linked buckets are flat on the ground, you won’t have a lot of options for draining. Having your buckets just 4 inches above the ground,  allows for a simple gravity forced drain through one of the connecting drain hoses. Be ready for minor clean up. The slow way to go, would be to redirect your water pump hoses, to drain into an outside reservoir. You should be able to get 95% of the water out using the pump.
